Esther Babb possesses the intrepidness of an explorer, the sensibility of an artist and the resourcefulness of an analyst, tracking down sources of inspiration around every bend in the road. As a child she spent the school year exploring architecturally-rich Chicago, signing up for as many art and architecture classes a high school student could take at The Art Institute of Chicago, UIC, the Terra Museum and the Columbia College. She spent her summers with her family in Durango, Mexico, temporarily casting off the urban, angular beauty of the Chicago skyline for the vibrant, shapely colors of rural Mexico, flamenco dancing, cooking with ingredients straight from her family’s farm, and snapping her camera at every possible moment.

After studying photography under Laura Letinsky at the University of Chicago where she earned her AB, Esther spent nine years at Goldman Sachs in New York and London, eventually reaching the level of Executive Director. She is currently a Senior Business Analyst at Citadel LLC, working closely with hedge fund business leaders. Once again taking advantage of her extra-curricular hours, she has fine-tuned her skills in photography apprenticing with many renown photographers whilst working long hours on Wall Street and The City.

Esther Babb’s photography work conveys a modern, edgy, sophisticated yet comfortable mood.  Her pieces are engaging and thought-provoking, they put the viewer at ease.  When recommending pieces for specific spaces, Esther offers an individualized approach that takes into consideration the building design and purpose, the atmosphere and character of the space and the intended aesthetic. Some examples of Esther’s work can be found on this website and as you will see, her work caters to a unique modern aesthetic – whether it be the movement and vitality found in her grainy, high-contrast, black and white flamenco collection; the nostalgia and emotion found in the still-lifes of her grandmother’s house; or the history mixed with a modern gothic found in her “Père Lachaise Cemetery” collection.
